Tesla and Rivian have reportedly reached a "conditional" settlement in a lawsuit where Tesla accused Rivian of poaching employees and stealing trade secrets. According to Bloomberg, Tesla informed a California judge that the companies have agreed to a settlement and expect to seek dismissal of the lawsuit by December 24.
The lawsuit, filed in 2020, was set to go to trial in March 2025. Tesla claimed it discovered an "alarming pattern" in which Rivian recruited Tesla employees and allegedly encouraged them to bring proprietary information with them when they left the company.
Rivian, in turn, had filed to dismiss the lawsuit, calling it an “improper and malicious attempt” to hinder Rivian’s growth and intimidate Tesla employees who were contemplating leaving.
Tesla did not immediately respond to TechCrunch’s request for comment, and a Rivian spokesperson noted that the company does not comment on ongoing litigation.
